Sara Piper - Head of Digital

Sara, what attracted to you working for RLWC2021?

I've worked in rugby league for several years with the NRL and Rugby League World Cup 2017 in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. When I heard the plans and ambitions for RLWC2021, I immediately wanted in! It's rugby league, but on a whole new scale with different challenges, opportunities and will see the game take centre stage globally.

What is your favourite sporting memory?

Working on Rugby League World Cup 2017 there was enormous excitement around the Tongan team. Being along for that journey, from the moment four players defected from Australia and New Zealand to play for Mate Ma'a, to seeing Taumalolo lead the Sipi Tau against New Zealand and finally the semi-final, where we were promised the "sea of red" would come, and the Tongans turned up in an incredible display of fandom. I can't wait to see what story unfolds in England in 2021!
