The countdown to Rugby League World Cup 2021 continues with just 150 days to go before the action gets under way at St James’ Park in Newcastle. 

Hosts England will kick-off the tournament against Samoa, which will be followed by a total of 61 games taking place in a six-week festival of men’s, women’s and wheelchair Rugby League across the country. 

RLWC2021 will be the biggest, best and most inclusive tournament in the sport’s history, with all three tournaments taking place as part of a single Rugby League World Cup for the first time in iconic stadia across England. 

As excitement builds for the World Cup, we’ve highlighted 150 different reasons to be excited for RLWC2021 - from the chance to see the best players in the world go head-to-head, to delivering an unprecedented £20 million social impact programme.

Reasons our hosts are excited about RLWC2021

49. Bolton will be hosting one of the most storied men's teams in international Rugby League, France.
50. The incredible University of Bolton stadium will host the men's Group A clash between hosts, England, and France in one of the games of the group stage.
51. Current men's Rugby League World Cup champions, Australia, will take on Scotland at the Coventry Building Society Arena with both teams cheered on by sports mad locals and fans from across the world!
52. We have lots of fun and exciting opportunities available to engage with the Samoan national team from visiting some local Primary schools, engaging with our Rugby league community clubs to visiting the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.  We are excited to learn about Samoan culture and very much welcoming everyone to Doncaster.
53. This is a great opportunity to put Doncaster on the world map and showcase three RLWC2021 fixtures in the town including being live on the BBC! This will give local people the opportunity to witness world class Rugby League stars up close and personal.  We are very proud of all the long term / legacy impacts that hosting the world cup will bring, we want to inspire young people to play sport and be more active and believe this is a catalyst in doing so.   
54. The Rugby League mad city of Hull will be welcoming the Fijian men's team and getting behind them as they look to lift the Rugby League World Cup!
55. You can expect passion and a cauldron of noise in the MKM Arena as it hosts three RLWC2021 games across the men's and women's tournament, including a men's quarter-final.
56. As the birthplace of Rugby League, Huddersfield and Kirklees is excited to host a quarter final match and bring rugby league home.

Leeds is excited and delighted to be hosting many fixtures of the RLWC2021 giving Leeds the opportunity to showcase our amazing sports stadiums.  It’s a fantastic event to attract visitors from around the world and allow us to provide a very warm Yorkshire welcome to our wonderfully vibrant, creative and community-focussed city.
58. Italy and Tonga's men's teams will be calling Liverpool and St. Helens home for the duration of RLWC2021, an iconic port city where sport is a religion. Italy and Tonga can expect huge support from Merseyside throughout the tournament.
59. England, Australia, Spain and Ireland's wheelchair teams will be calling the capital home, a melting pot of cultures and people that will be supporting the sides through thick and thin.
60. Seven fixtures will be taking place in London! Six Group A wheelchair game and a thrilling men's semi-final. If you're a fan of fast paced and heart racing sport, there's a RLWC2021 game in London for you!
61. Scotland's men's team will be hosted just a short distance from the boarder in Newcastle where they'll find one of the most welcoming cities in England, ready to show them how passionate Geordie fans are!

 
62. Four fixtures, five nations, two brilliant venues, Newcastle is going to be a Rugby League fan's dream in RLWC2021 and the action on the pitch will be electric!
63. It is exciting for Preston to provide opportunities for people across the city and the sub-region to get involved in playing the sport – in an innovative partnership the City Council, UCLan, the RFL and Preston North End’s Community and Educational Trust have come together to fund a RL Development Officer to work in schools and local clubs

64. A vibrant city in the heart of South Yorkshire, Sheffield will be hosting five team; Greece men and France, Wales, Scotland and the USA's wheelchair teams. A chance for cultural exchange and to take another team to heart for RLWC2021!
65. There are a whopping nine fixtures being played in Sheffield, including an England men's game at Bramall Lane, the entirety of the Wheelchair Group B fixtures and the wheelchair semi-finals! RLWC2021 is taking over Sheffield and we can't wait!
66. Some of the world's best men's team will be gracing the field at the Totally Wicked Stadium across three pulsating fixtures, it's going to be a feast of Rugby League.
67. The Tees Valley and Cook Island's have a shared history stretching back hundreds of years and North Yorkshire will be home for the Cook Islands' men's team for RLWC2021. A new page in their history could be written as the Cook Islands seek to lift the trophy for the first time.
68. The outstanding Riverside stadium will play host to an all Pacific nation men's clash between Tonga and the Cook Islands, a significant game in Group D.
69. Three Finals, over two days in two iconic venues, Manchester & Trafford will play host to the pinnacle of Men's, Women's and Wheelchair Rugby League in November this year, you won't want to miss it.
70. Warrington can’t wait to welcome PNG to give them a warm Warrington welcome! Hosting a team as prestigious as PNG is something that we can’t not be excited about.
71. We’re excited to host three men’s group games and a men’s quarter final game in Warrington. We can’t wait for people to witness the incredible atmosphere at a packed-out Halliwell Jones Stadium
72. Together with Cazoo, we're engaging 14 million Rugby League followers in the UK and delivering a groundbreaking tournament."
73. “Particularly at Leigh Sports Village there’s some exciting games to watch live and the local people in Leigh will get behind all the teams playing here” - David Molyneux, leader of Wigan Council
74. York has faced invasion before at the hands of the Vikings, but later this year they're going to be invaded by the some of the world's best men's and women's international sides! New Zealand men's and women's team alongside Australia, France and the Cook Islands' women's team will make York home this October and November.
75. York's brand new LNER Community Stadium will be hosting a whopping eight women's game including both semi-finals. There's going to be a seemingly non-stop conveyor belt of world class Rugby League in York and it's not to be missed.

Reasons our CreatedBy community clubs are excited for RLWC2021

76. The very first club to receive RLWC2021 CreatedBy funding, Aspatria Hornets RLFC have been feeling the impact of the biggest and best Rugby League World Cup for three years and will continue to after the tournament is over.
77. Cardinal Newman Catholic High School are passionate about increasing the number of girls playing Rugby League and have used their RLWC2021 CreatedBY grant to develop new girls' teams, growing the game for future generations.
78. Thanks to help from RLWC2021, Women's Super League side Castleford Tigers are running weekly touch rugby for girls in the community.
79. New posts and post protectors provided by RLWC2021 CreatedBy funding to Drighlington Amteur Rugby League Club are a vital upgrade that make grassroots Rugby League possible.
80. New kit and equipment at Golborne High School provided through a CreatedBy grant has made participating in Rugby League easier and more enjoyable for pupils at the school.
81. Two new girls age groups have been added at South Leeds Spartans thanks to CreatedBy funding, making the game more accessible for girls in the community.
82. With help from RLWC2021 CreatedBy funding, Wigan St Judes ARLFC modernise their clubhouse and facilities which has generated vital income, as well as attracting new players across all age groups.
83. RLWC2021 CreatedBy funding has helped East Leeds Rugby League Club refurbish the ground floor of their clubhouse to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the club, making the community space more welcoming.
84. New Earswick All Blacks purchased brand new kit and equipment to help the delivery and growth of their junior age groups from under 17s through to under 11s thanks to CreatedBy funding.
85. Brixton Bulls are growing the game in London, where seven RLWC2021 games are being played, with help from a RLWC2021 CreatedBy grant!
86. New goal posts and equipment at Liverpool Lions RLFC is attracting more volunteers and uptake in the sport thanks to a RLWC2021 CreatedBy grant.
87. Eastern Rhinos RLFC: We are excited by the promotion of the greatest game with all the different cultures and people coming together, and the ability created by has given us to engage more people in our community
88. RLWC2021 has helped Milford Sports Club to create a more welcoming and inviting environment for training and socialising out of an unused and dilapidated area

89. The new goalposts and post protectors allowed Whitehaven Academy Copeland to increase the number of pupils at the school who are given the opportunity to play rugby league, meaning more and more young people are enjoying the game.
90. Fryston ARLFC: The best players in the world  all on one stage and the experience of the coaches guiding these teams mean any up and coming coach can analyse in detail their techniques and hopefully put something into their own team. There may be never another opportunity  to have such talent on your own doorstep.
91. A new generation of wheelchair Rugby League players are now able to enjoy the sport at Swindon St George Wheelchair RL Club thanks to new equipment purchased using CreatedBy funding.
92. The brand new facilities at Bentley ARLFC, made possible by CreatedBy, have already opened up so many doors for the club and the community, and have shown a real dedication to developing the future of Rugby League in the area.
93. RLWC2021 CreatedBy funding has helped to provide a Full-Size 3G FTP and first-class, two-storey, modular clubhouse and changing block that will allow West Bowling ARLFC to establish themselves in a new facility and grow the sport of Rugby League locally.
94. Halifax Wheelchair RL Club has seen already new and renewed interest in the wheelchair game, hence the need for extra equipment. The existing members have been inspired that people from different countries with disabilities are being highlighted in the same way as Paralympians.
95. With help from CreatedBy, Bradford MBC have designed a new club complex which will provide the community with a much-needed base and aim to promote sport and activity at all levels, providing a facility for people of all ages and abilities to use.
96. RLWC2021’s CreatedBy programme has helped Cockermouth Titans ARL refurbish an existing squash centre in order to create a new facility that will help the club act as a community hub.
97. Chorley Panthers RLFC have been able to build a new clubhouse to replace their old prefabricated facility to create a more welcoming environment and provide wider usage for its members and the community.
98. Dewsbury Moor ARLFC have been able to extend and refurbish their existing clubhouse to the standard their players and members deserve, which will allow their junior players to develop and senior players flourish.
99. Drighlington ARLFC will help secure the future of the library and community centre as well as providing improved facilities to encourage more people to get involved in Rugby League thanks to CreatedBy funding.
100. Farnley Falcons will be able to bring their club back in one place, with upgraded showers and changing rooms.
101. Hemel Stags Rugby Club have benefitted from a CreatedBy large grant to refurbish and upgrade the training facilities to help the club as it looks to develop a Super League team for women, and champion the growth of the female game.
102. Emley Moor ARLFC are excited about the Rugby League World Cup because without CreatedBy funding we wouldn’t have been able to sustain and grown Rugby League in and around our local communities.
103. CreatedBy investment in a new club house has meant Kings Cross Park RLFC were able to double the number of teams and open new opportunities for people to play the sport.

Orrell St James ARLFC: A new high-quality club house, brand new changing facilities and two new playing pitches, made possible by CreatedBy funding, is aiming to boost membership further and encourage more participation from the local community, with emphasis on the growth of its girls and women’s teams.
105. Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust: The funding and the hosting of the Rugby League World Cup alongside the progress Rugby League has made across television, media and in the communities, means exciting times are ahead.
106. Ovenden ARLFC are helping to grow Rugby League in their community with help from RLWC2021 CreatedBy funding made available to revamp changing rooms and provide a more welcoming environment.
107. Salford City Roosters have created its first ever girls’ team and are hosting a new programme of community activities and events thanks to CreatedBy funding used to help build a brand new clubhouse.
108. A £150,000 CreatedBy grant has helped Sharlston Rovers to extend their changing facilities, making them more accesible and growing women's and girls participation in Rugby League.

109. Portico Vine ARLFC: We are excited to show our young players that anything is possible, and one day, they could also play on the greatest stage of all.
110. The CreatedBy equipment and kits Shevington Sharks ARLFC have recieved has allowed more girls to get involved in rugby league and help build a lasting legacy from RLWC2021.
111. St Helens MBC and Haydock Warriors are encouraging active lifestyles in their community through CreatedBy funding used to make vital upgrades to the facilities.
112. The CreatedBy grant Thatto Heath Crusaders recieved allowed the club to build a hybrid pitch system, add flood lights and improve the drainage meaning they can get so much more use of the pitch and more teams can experience rugby league. A true lasting legacy of RLWC2021.
113. The hope that the tournament inspires young boys and girls in Halifax and the wider area to take up the great sport of rugby league and make the most of the fantastic facility that has been created for us at Siddal.
114. A state of the art £200,000 training facility at Wath Brow Hornets to provide superb new indoor facilities for players and a vital community asset.

A £600,000 CreatedBy grant has transformed the Victoria Park stadium in Warrington and surrounding area into a community Hub for the development and growth of Rugby League in Warrington, with a special focus on Physical Disability Rugby League, Learning Disability Rugby League and women’s and girls’ Rugby League
116. Westhaughton Lions received a £275,000 CreatedBy grant which has resulted in a new fully accessible clubhouse to increase Rugby League participation and become a community asset.
117. York St. John University received a £262,000 CreatedBy grant to help with the installation of a 3G pitch that will act as hub for Rugby League in York, grow women's, girl's and disability Rugby League a provide the community with year round playing facilities.
