Mal Meninga's Kangaroos took inspiration from the Jillaroos, as they produced a dominant final display to win their third consecutive Rugby League World Cup title in Manchester.

The women's team had beaten New Zealand 54-4 in the first of two Saturday showdowns and captain James Tedesco inspired his side to a 30-10 win over Samoa, competing in their first final in front of 67,502 fans.

But arguably the reception of the day was for English rugby league great Kevin Sinfield, who completed his epic Ultra 7 in 7 Challenge that has seen him run over 40 miles a day for the last week, raising over a million pounds for the MND Association and Leeds Hospitals Charity’s appeal to build the Rob Burrow Centre for MND.
