League of Giants

The world’s best are coming to Australia for the RLWC2017 and they’ve got some awesome new team-mates. Fourteen larger than life giant rugby league players are coming to a place near you!

From Samoa to the USA, Lebanon to Wales, France to New Zealand, each of these massive units will represent one of the fourteen participating nations in the tournament.

We’re talking HUGE, each “player” stands three metres tall and weighs 400 kilograms, glowing with internal LED lighting – you can’t miss them day or night! Throughout the tournament, the League of Giants will make a huge impact on fans as you get up close and personal with these legends in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane.

This is a mighty celebration of the courage, honour and strength of our players - get amongst ‘em!

What are they made of?

  • Concrete base
  • Steal armature (frame)
  • Digitally printed lycra player kits designed to match the actual tournament playing kit by each nation
  • 3D printed polymer body
  • They are internally lit using LED strip lighting (7amp to light the lot!)

Is the statue modelled from a person?

Yes! The player used was Patrice Siolo, who works for NRL Central in Sydney. He currently plays for the North Sydney Bears. Patrice has played for South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. He plays at second-row and lock. He was required to hold the pose for 3 minutes while a scanning device captured the detail required to create the print file.

What are the dimensions?

Height – 3 metres / Weight – approx. 400kg each / Base dimensions – 1200cm x 600cm wide (oval footprint)

Who made them?

Gorilla Constructions who are a construction and design company based in Sydney, who specialise in set designs, creations and using new technology to create props and products. We are proud to confirm they are 100% Australian made!

How long are they here for?

Over 7 weeks and 3 days (52 days) our giants will travel 3525km (2190 miles)
