Sims, who was widely applauded for the ferocious 15th minute tackle on Brown, was charged with a grade two dangerous throw and has until noon on Tuesday to enter a plea.
The inspirational prop will miss two matches if she pleads guilty but risks a three match suspension is she opts to contest the charge at a judiciary hearing.
The 35-year-old received praise for the tackle from brother Ashton, who plays for Fiji and Warrington in the UK Super League.
“The term ‘folded like a deck chair’ comes to mind. Well done @ NSWRL Girls on a mega win today,” Sims tweeted, along with a link to a photo of the tackle and a story on Fox Sports headlined “hit of the year”.
However, the NSWRL match review committee decided the tackle, for which Sims was placed on report, was illegal and warranted a grade two dangerous throw charge.
Officials said that Sims was in no danger of missing the Women’s Rugby League World Cup as she could serve the suspension playing for Caringbah-Cronulla Sharks in the Sydney Metropolitan Women’s Rugby League Premiership.
Meanwhile, the QRL match review committee is yet to decide whether to charge Jillaroos winger Heather Ballinger for tripping after she was placed on report.
