Cabramatta, St Marys, Wentworthville and Windsor will host the pool rounds and play-off matches, with Pepper Stadium in Penrith hosting Finals Day on Sunday 16 July 2017. St Marys Rugby League Club will also host the official opening ceremony featuring all competing teams and officials from 6.00pm this Friday, 7 July 2017.

The user-pays Festival of World Cups marks the start of a huge six months of international Rugby League with the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup to take place in France from July 20, the first-ever standalone women’s World Cup to be staged in Sydney during November, and the men’s tournament to be hosted by Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Festival of World Cups 2017 Tournament Director Graham McNaney said that Western Sydney was in for a real treat, as the best of the best converge on the region.

“This year’s event is the third staging of the Festival of World Cups and we are pleased to be hosting three divisions in Western Sydney, featuring some of the world’s leading student and defence force teams,” said McNaney.

“The universities competition is always a must-watch affair and this year will be no different with six well credentialed teams vying for the ninth universities title. 

“The Festival of World Cups is not only a celebration of international rugby league but reflects the opportunities and pathways available in the sport, and we look forward to watching some enthralling rugby league over the coming weeks,” concluded McNaney.
